From the Media

Since 2004 we have received wide coverage for the release and making of The Lewis & Clark Trail American Landscapes. Below you can find links to most of the television, radio, newspaper and magazine articles about the book.

June 2007

The Newberry Library has announced plans to have a traveling exhibit of their famed "Lewis & Clark in Indian Country" exhibit which will travel to over 35 libraries around the United States over the next several years. Images from The Lewis & Clark Trail American Landscapes book and project will again be featured in the exhibit. Richard Mack will be available for lectures and book signings at selected events.

May 2007

The Eric Hoffer Award for Books 2007 (formerly The Writers Notes Book Award) announced the winners of their awards for Excellence in Independent Publishing and The Lewis & Clark Trail American Landscapes won the Gold Medal for Best Self-Published Book. In their words, "Terrific concepts appear simple at first glance, or at least they should. Richard Mack’s photo essay delivers brilliance and simplicity on a grand stage—the northwest trail forged by the Corps of Discovery in the early 1800s. The Lewis & Clark Trail traces the footsteps of the famous explorers by visiting this still pristine landscape in the very seasons that the explorers first walked the terrain. While historical accounts typically focus on the hazards and death along this historic journey, Mack’s series of pictorials takes in the awesome beauty, barely interrupting the journey with Lewis and Clark’s own trail notes. The combinative effect is astounding. It is as if we see what they saw."
